The free Zimbra Desktop client allows you to meld the online and offline worlds – storing and synching your email, calendar, contacts, files and documents in the cloud, yet having them locally accessible when on the road. Zimbra Desktop aggregates information across accounts (Zimbra, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, Hotmail, etc.) and social networks (Facebook, Digg, Twitter, etc.) to help make communicating & sharing information easier than ever.

Zimbra Desktop 0.9 is an email manager that lets you manage all your email accounts.
Yahoo! Zimbra Desktop allows you to access your email while your computer is disconnected from the internet.
The first thing you have to do is to enter settings for an existing mail account. You must be online to do that.
You can set up an account on Zimbra, Yahoo!, GMail or AOL. You can also set up a POP/IMAP account.
After that, Zimbra will show you a window with different tabs. Within the Mail tab you will have access to the account folders, searches and tags. On the right of your screen you will have a list of your received messages, along with buttons that will let you refresh the list of messages, compose a new one (or a response), print, delete or move your existing emails.
Another tab will give you access to your Address Book, letting you organize it the way you want. The Calendar tab will let you organize your agenda, the Tasks bar lets you plan your time.
Zimbra will also allow you to search for a given word in your received emails. |

What's new in version 7.1
Zimbra Desktop is upgraded with the feature set and skin plus features many significant enhancements such as the ability to schedule regular backups of all accounts locally as well as “send-to-recipient” from within Microsoft Office applications.
Email Features :
- GAL People Search. A new search option called People Search lets users search the Global Address List (GAL) for people within their organization and see detailed information including phone numbers, office location and the contact’s photo. The search autocompletes as the user types, and works with both GAL and personal Address Book contacts.
- Restore previously deleted email messages. Users can now self-restore previously deleted email messages from their email Trash folders. They right-click on the email Trash folder and select Recover Deleted Items. This feature is enabled by the administrator.
- Undo Action. Mail and Contacts actions (including delete, move and mark messages as Spam) can be undone using the “undo” dialog that displays when an action is performed.
- Send Email Later. A user can delay delivery of an email message and specify the date and time to deliver the message from the Send dropdown menu and selecting Send later. The message is saved in the drafts folder until it is sent. This feature is enabled by the administrator.
Calendar Features :
- Scheduling Wizard. The Scheduling Wizard Suggested Times feature has been changed. Organizers can now request a list of available locations without adding attendees.
- Email and SMS Notifications. Users can now configure email addresses and SMS numbers to receive task and appointment reminders. This can be done either from the task or appointment, or from the Preferences>Notifications page. |
